LeBron James is the biggest star in the NBA right now. Fresh off an NBA Finals performance for the ages while winning the first championship in the Cavs’ history, James has cemented himself as an all-time great.
It’s no wonder, then, that any LeBron memorabilia is highly sought after. In fact, one piece is expected to be sold for a huge profit.
Following from Joe Noga of Cleveland.com:
The world’s rarest and most valuable LeBron James basketball trading card according to some collectors is currently up for auction. And with fewer than two weeks remaining, bids are expected to reach $200,000.
The card, from James’ rookie season, is signed by the star. Up to this point, bidding on the card has reached $70,000. There are still 12 days remaining in the bidding and experts are saying it will reach $200,000:
Goldin, who runs Goldin Auctions, the service hosting the item, says the card is “the most valuable LeBron James collector’s item out there.” Even more valuable than a game-worn, autographed jersey.
“If you had the jersey he wore in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, this card is worth more,” he said.
Cards made after 2000 are rarely sold at this high of a price. But such is the power of LeBron James.
