Cleveland’s news channel 5 meteorologist Mark Johnson is known for his humor during his forecasts, and a few years ago he let his emotions of LeBron James and the Miami Heat’s victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA finals get the best of him.
Mark Johnson clearly watched Game 2 of the NBA finals, and was not a fan of the officiating.
The play Johnson was fired up about happened in overtime of Game 2, which Andre Iguodala got away with a hard foul on LeBron James which caused a shot clock violation against Cleveland.
The hard foul upset Johnson so much he had to recreate the play in his forecast, and I respect his passion.
The NBA admitted to missing the foul call, but they also admitted to missing the obvious travel LeBron committed during the play as well.
One call the officiating crew missed in game 1 was the travel called on Timofey Mozgov which wiped away two points for Cleveland which could have changed the scenario late in the game.
Game 2 was an overtime thriller with poor officiating for both teams, which simply cannot happen in the NBA finals with so much on the line for both teams.
The first two games of this series have been so close that if this trend continues it could possibly cost either team a game and maybe the series.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Golden State Warriors in Cleveland for Game 3 so Mark Johnson could have some more witty forecasts in the making come Tuesday night.
Hopefully for both teams sake they’ll have a better officiating crew on their hands and I’d expect to see Joey Crawford on hand for either Game 3 or Game 4.
Crawford’s officiating usually is very thorough and no non-sense which should cut down on the players satisfied with the calls being made, and keep the overall flow of the game going.
If the officiating is better that should favor LeBron James’ more with the crew missing a couple calls, which could have added to his stat-line more than likely.
Game 3 of the NBA Finals is tonight, where LeBron James and The Cavaliers look to take a 2-1 lead on the Golden State Warriors.
