LaVar Ball, possibly the most outspoken and also annoying human ever, recently said that his children – Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo – are better set up for success than LeBron James’ kids LeBron Jr. and Bryce James. LeBron took this personally, firing back at Ball on Tuesday. From ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“Keep my kids’ name out of your mouth, keep my family out of your mouth,” James told ESPN on Tuesday, as the Cavaliers practiced on UCLA’s campus, two days after a victory at the Lakers.
“This is dad to dad. It’s a problem now.”
What was Ball’s reasoning as to why James’ children won’t have success? Their father is LeBron James. Ball says that James’ children will have too much pressure on them. Ball also implied that James’ full schedule as an NBA player doesn’t leave him enough time to be with his children.
This is the latest of many ridiculous things that LaVar Ball has said. Other examples include Ball saying that his sons will only sign a $1 billion shoe deal, that LaVar (who averaged 2.2 points per game in college) could have beaten prime Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one basketball, and that the Balls’ brand (which is very overpriced) can be bigger than both Nike and Jordan.
Ball’s son Lonzo is UCLA’s star point guard, and will likely be a top-two selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. His other two sons are also committed to UCLA and currently play ball for Chino Hills.
