The NBA won’t take action against LeBron James for his social media post of a song lyric referring to ‘Jewish Money’ according to ESPN’s, Adrian Wojnarowski. According to Woj, the league office accepted LeBron’s apology that he made after Sunday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
In the apology, James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that he thought it was more of a compliment than derogatory term, James said:
“Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone. That’s not why I chose to share that lyric. I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of it. So, I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody.”
When referencing ‘Jewish money,’ LeBron was quoting a recently released 21 Savage song, ‘ASMR’, off his new album ‘i am > i was.’ James posted the lyrics, ‘We been getting that Jewish money. Everything is Kosher,’ on his public Instagram page with 45.9 million followers.
Since joining the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron has also faced criticism for his comments about other teams’ players in efforts to seemingly recruit them to LA.
