The Cleveland Cavaliers made waves Thursday evening when they acquired sharpshooter Kyle Korver in exchange for Mo Williams, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and a future first-round draft pick. LeBron James previously expressed that he feels that Cleveland needs a backup point guard, and the Cavs reportedly have interest in Mario Chalmers and Rajon Rondo. James reiterated this opinion today. From ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“We still got a couple more things we need to do,” James said at Cavs shootaround Friday morning in preparation for their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. “We got to get a point guard.”
It was a continuation of the point guard drum James was beating after the Cavs lost to Chicago on Wednesday.
“Yeah, it’s my last time saying it,” James said. “We need a point guard.”
With Williams and Dunleavy both reportedly being shipped off in exchange for Korver, the Cavs would have an open roster spot, enabling them to sign a free agent point guard such as Chalmers, Norris Cole, or Jarrett Jack. The Cavs could also go the route of making another trade, in order to acquire Rajon Rondo from the Bulls. Rondo’s value has never been lower, and James has a great deal of respect for the 30-year-old.
