When Larry Nance Jr. was traded from the Los Angeles to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team his father once played for, there was much speculation about whether or not Nance Jr. would don the no. 22 jersey that his father wore in Cleveland. No. 22 is retired in Cleveland, but surely Larry Nance Sr. would make an exception for his son. Instead, Nance Jr. wore 24. Starting next week, however, Nance Jr. will switch to his dad’s number, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
Larry Nance Jr. just announced before the game that he’ll start wearing his dad’s No. 22 starting next week. Nance Sr.’s No. 22 banner will still hang in The Q when he wears it. Tonight he’ll still be in No. 24.

Nance Jr. wore no. 22 in college at the University of Wyoming, but couldn’t in L.A. because that number was retired for Elgin Baylor.
Nance Jr. has worn his father’s jersey once for the Cavs so far; he did so for one of his dunks in the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
In three games for the Cavs thus far, Nance Jr. has averaged eight points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
