We all know that before the injury, Paul George was on his way to be a top 5 player in the league. Some might say that he was already there before the injury. Whatever side you’re on, we are all going to ask the question “Where will PG13 be next season?”. How will he fare after being over a year out from world class basketball?
Larry Bird has been a clear fan of George, I mean how can you not? He’s one of the best two-way players in the game. And bird has said, according to CBS Sports, that George will play many positions, PF and SF primarily.
“He’ll play a lot of the power forward and small forward and he might defend some 2s at times,” Bird said. “Paul is going to play a lot of different positions for us this year. I’m the one that thinks he can play the 4 position. I think the mismatches on the offensive end is far greater than the defensive liabilities sometimes he’ll have against the strength. But I think he can handle it. Paul’s very versatile. He’ll do anything that we ask him to do to try to win basketball games. And he wants to play uptempo. He likes to handle and pass and get out and run a little bit.“
It’s clear why George will be stretched out by a few positions having in mind that both their starting power forward and center last year are gone. David West went rings > money. And Hibbert is off to Lakerland. The Pacers did get Monta Ellis which is good, that’ll mean that George will most likely control the forward positions and guard the best player if they’re over 6″4.
Safe to say that whether George is ready or not, he’ll be making up for the lost time.
