Fans can be very cynical, especially in the days of social media. One quote can be taken and bent to however the fan sees fit. So when LaMarcus Aldridge kept sitting on the fence about his future, Portland fans got anxious, most of them were like me and assumed that he wanted a change of scenery.
I also think the Blazers organisation knew that he was leaving, there were no reports showing confidence that he was staying, it was written on the wall and Portland fans and reporters won’t say it but they knew he was gone, the question was simply ‘where?’
We now know it’s the San Antonio Spurs, whoopee. He got his no.12 thanks to Bruce Bowen and when he talked to The Russillo Show on ESPN Radio, he is fearing the worst when he returns to Portland.
“I think going back [to Portland] my first time might be boos because I think people are really hurt by my decision. They don’t understand why I left. So I think my first game back, I probably will be booed.”
I don’t know why the Blazers would boo him. He has spent so many years there, was always an integral part of the team. They owe a lot to Aldridge, and I think they will applaud him when he returns. They should applaud him.
