Just about one year ago former NBA star Lamar Odom was near death. The two-time NBA champion and former sixth man of the year almost lost his life after he became unconscious at a brothel in Nevada. An ambulance took him to a nearby hospital where doctors found a “cocktail of drugs” in his system.
Odom appeared to be doing well following the scary ordeal. The charismatic big man was seen at Kobe Bryant’s final game and at a Kanye West fashion show in New York looking healthy and back to his old self. He touted that Kanye was key in his recovery and he even boasted about a possible NBA comeback. But sometime between then and the winter, Odom again fell off back into his old ways.
Some of his old friends feared he was back on drugs. He was kicked off an airplane over the summer and he also apparently left a family intervention. ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne also recently stated on Zach Lowe’s ‘Lowe Post’ podcast that things for Odom weren’t looking great. Now we know what she might have meant.
Odom has reportedly checked himself into a rehab facility in California.

Lamar Odom is ready to get some professional help.
E! News can confirm the former Los Angeles Lakers player recently admitted himself into rehab in San Diego, Calif.
“It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life,” a source shared with E! News. “He has not fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety.”
While the athlete experienced some setbacks during his recovery including reports of being homeless, sources previously told E! News that he was focused on living a healthier life.
“Lamar’s not homeless. He has a nice place in California,” a source previously shared with us. “He is doing well. He is determined to stay on the straight and narrow [path] and wants to be the best father he can possibly be and he is doing the work required to achieve that.”
Our source added, “It is not easy, but he is focused and determined.”
Lamar’s rep could not be reached for comment regarding rehab news. The athlete was last spotted shopping in Beverly Hills on December 6.
Best of wishes to you Lamar. Hope you get better soon.
