Los Angeles Lakers had the first crack at LaMarcus Aldridge once the clock struck midnight on July 1st.
First shot means that team has the first chance of making the best impression, especially when you’re one of seven possible suitors to be making your sales pitch to that specific player. It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers might have struck out on making a lasting first impression with Aldridge.
Following from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Lakers didn't make strong impression in Aldridge meeting, sources say. Spurs can close on him. LMA expected to make decision fairly soon.

Despite the cast of characters the Lakers brought to their meeting with the All-Star big man it appears the it wasn’t anywhere close to a impactful showing by Los Angeles. The Lakers meeting with Aldridge went for well over two hours but in that time there apparently was nothing they could pitch to Aldridge that would make him want to join Los Angeles.
With the new moves by the San Antonio Spurs, it’s almost just a matter of time before LaMarcus joins them to chase more championship rings.
