While 2015 has been relatively quiet for Lady Gaga in terms of followup material from her most recent solo studio album, ARTPOP, that doesn’t mean that Gaga hasn’t been making noise in the world of other ventures she’s involved in. From a duet album with the legendary Tony Bennett, a widely praised Oscar performance in tribute to “The Sound Of Music,” a starring role as “The Countess” in “American Horror Story,” and so much more, if anything goes to show for, Lady Gaga has proved that she isn’t a one trick pony. Covering Billboard’s “Woman Of The Year” issue, the singer talks various topics such as being written off, fulfilling her destiny, and even talks music industry politics and radio remixes.
“I call on every artist to be kind to one another, and compassionate. Let us purify this industry again and put our finger in the face of every executive and say, ‘If you are spending money, is it on someone who can really sing? Is it on someone who has a perspective?’ It’s almost funny to see the look on Tony’s face, the way he shakes his head, when I tell him how the industry has become. This whole thing of remixes for the radio, I have to say: When it doesn’t feel like the two artists were in the room together, it really hurts me because it’s such an injustice to what it means for two artists to meet. It’s clever. But are we putting too many limits on the way things need to be on the radio for artists to feel free enough to create genuinely?”
One to always provide clarity for those that may have her confused, Lady Gaga’s Billboard issues is just another reminder that she’s not only is here to stay, but knows her purpose in a fickle industry that has no problem replacing talent with the next best thing. Currently working on a new album for her legion of fans, 2016 is shaping up to possibly be the year Gaga reminds the Pop world how and why she’s worthy of such honors.
