Before the season started, the Nets separated Irving from the team because he wasn’t going to be available for home games due to his vaccination status. This decision was reversed a couple of weeks ago when the team had several injuries and players in health and safety protocols.
However, Irving tested positive in his return and remained on the injury report for the Nets.
Last season, the big three in Brooklyn barely played together and in those minutes, the team had a +7.2 net rating. Irving’s addition will give the Nets an extra option to resolve games, at least on the road.
Currently, the Nets hold the second seed of the Eastern Conference with a 23-11 record.
