Kyrie Irving fined $50,000 after a video surfaced of him at a private indoor party last weekend. The Brooklyn Nets star has been sitting out multiple games for “personal reasons” since the riots at the Capitol on January 6. The All-Star guard has been very quiet during this time period but was expected to return as early as next week.
Irving will lose out on more money than just that though. For games upcoming that he will miss due to quarantine protocol he will be docked his check for those games. This will at a minimum include Tuesday and Wednesday’s games from this week against the Nuggets and Knicks respectively.

The controversial guard was averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game through seven games played this season. For those who think Brooklyn doesn’t need him or won’t miss him they are sorely mistaken. Irving is an asset wherever he goes. His play during the early going this season has shown that his game hasn’t fallen off even with the time away due to injury. Durant and Irving have had their own public disagreements, but should be cohesive together on the court as the season drags on.
The Nets point-guard will be available against the Orlando Magic on Saturday as long as he tests negative and meets other protocols. While many fans have grown confused and a little frustrated with the absence of Irving, they will be glad to have him back whenever that is. The Nets just made a blockbuster trade with three other teams to acquire James Harden from Houston. So, Brooklyn will be looking to win that Larry O’Brien Trophy this season.
