Last season, Kristaps Porzingis added onto a very successful rookie year and averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2 blocks in his sophomore season. Although the New York Knicks missed the playoffs, the unicorn was able to prove to fans everywhere that he’s here to stay and one of the unique players in the league.
However, once the season ended and the off-season began, the rumors started to swirl about Porzingis’ trade availability before the draft. This was rooted back to then President Phil Jackson being mad at Porzingis skipping his exit interview. As the off-season progressed, the Knicks parted ways with Jackson and since then no huge issues have arisen.
As for Porzingis, the unicorn is fresh off of appearing in the yearly NBA Africa game and is studying one pro athlete you’ll have to read to believe.
Following from Shaun Powell of NBA.com.
“I’m still 22 and still really young but I’m trying to learn as much as I can on the court, and trying to learn as much as I can off the court as well. I want to improve the mental side. I’m actually amazed by Conor McGregor. I’ve been watching so many of his videos, trash talking, how mentally strong he is. I’ve been really interested in that kind of stuff.”
It appears Porzingis will add a new aspect to not only his actual game but his mental game as well by studying McGregor.
