The recently retired Kobe Bryant has been very active now that professional basketball is out of the equation. The NBA legend has been promoting his new short film “Dear Basketball”, and hopped on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” to continue doing just that. Bryant is so passionate about this project, he called film and music legends to help him make the best possible film.
On a more humorous note, Bryant also performed Slam Poetry on the 1990 family sitcom “Family Matters”. Who knew “The Mamba” talking about Steve Urkel was something the world sorely missed.
Kobe also answers some tough questions from a Sports Illustrated Kids reporter, such as how he spent his first paycheck, the toughest defender that has ever guarded him, and his pivotal opinion on Disney movies. We already know The Answer to who Bryant had the toughest time guarding.
Kobe is full of wisdom and basketball knowledge. But apparently his children have no interest in learning from one of the bestsellers to ever lace them up. Bryant mentions that his daughter listens to her coach’s advice before his. There are not too many players, whether amateur or pro, who would ignore advice from a man who averaged 25 points per game for his career.
Bryant recently said he does not miss the NBA, a crazy notion considering he is one of basketball’s fiercest competitors. But Kobe appears happy and busy, two states that many retired NBA players fail to reach. His short film “Dear Basketball” debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival.
