There is a deep pool of free agents available for recruitment this summer, from Kevin Durant to Mike Conley to DeMar DeRozan. When it comes to the New York Knicks, swinging for the fences will always be expected, but after those top-tier names will be another crop of less sought after players that may be more attainable.
Celtics guard Evan Turner falls into that category. Turner will be an unrestricted free agent, and apparently there is mutual interest between the Knicks and the former no. 2 overall pick.

League rumblings: The Knicks are rumored to be interested in soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Evan Turner. The interest may be mutual.

Turner was part of a deep and guard-heavy roster with the Celtics this past season. He wasn’t prolific, but more than solidified himself as a trustworthy and somewhat dynamic rotation player, averaging just over 10 points per game with over four rebounds and four assists.
The Knicks need more star power, and that’s not a void that Turner would fill, but in their deliberate hunt for a more stable option at point guard, Turner fits the bill compared to what the Knicks have had to work with thus far. After swinging for those fences, Turner might emerge as a more realistic target.
