The Knicks tried to create the DeAndre Jordan saga part 2, except this time on a smaller scale with undrafted free agent rookie Maurice Ndour.
Ndour played with the Knicks in Summer League, but reached a verbal agreement with Mark Cuban to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. He could have backed out and played for a team closer to his home, but instead chose to keep his word about going to Dallas.
Even after the undrafted Ndour agreed to terms with Dallas, the Knicks called Ndour’s camp to see if there was something that still could be worked out. Ndour, however, would not break his verbal agreement with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, according to a source.
Events such as teams desperately trying to get players to back out of deals before it is too late has happened to teams before, but Dallas is really getting the rough end this season. There is bound to be a huge push to eliminate the league’s moratorium, and Dallas will for sure be one of the biggest supporters.
