If the New York Knicks want to turn things around they’ll need to speed up the process.
The Knicks have the fourth overall pick which could change come draft day with all options on the table from trading the number four pick to having interest in Justise Winslow.
According to RealGM,
The Knicks have worked out several players, but they look to target France’s Mam Jaiteh, a player that won’t fall past the mid-second round. The Knicks may look to purchase a pick from the Portland Trailblazers or the Memphis Grizzlies.
The team has suffered through bad contracts and half hearted rebuilds which Jackson started the full process last season by trading away contracts to create cap space. It wouldn’t hurt the Knicks one bit to make the addition of another draft pick if anything it’ll help the team.
If the Knicks can add some young talent to the roster it’ll certainly help turn things around quicker since star forward Carmelo Anthony is not getting any younger. With the combination of draft picks and salary cap space the possibility of a quick rebuild is realistic, but it’ll have to be done the right way.
Lets hope Phil Jackson has studied the players in this draft enough to find a couple big time players, because that’s where the rebuild becomes so important.
We’ve seen so many teams including the Knicks for years struggle to either draft well or develop their players, and they’re in this situation for that reason.
