Actor KJ Apa is set to star in the upcoming pandemic thriller, Songbird.
The film will center on Apa’s character, an essential character who is immune to a serious virus that has caused a nationwide lockdown. His girlfriend, played by Sofia Carson, shelters at home to survive the chaos. Fighting off martial law, vigilantes and a powerful family, Apa strives to be with the woman he loves.
Songbird has begun principal photography in California this month. It is currently one of the only films in production during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Joining Apa and Carson, Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Bradley Whitford and Peter Stormare are all working on the project. There is not timetable as to when the film will hit theaters.
Elsewhere, Apa is fresh off of the fourth season his hit show, Riverdale. The teen drama is set to return in 2021.
