The Sacramento Kings have done a lot of things wrong the last 9 seasons, but drafting DeMarcus Cousins is one of the few (I cannot emphasize that word enough) positive things they’ve done.
The rumors have been going on for the past year or two that Cousins is drawing interest from plenty of teams, and the rumors have started back up.
According to Bill Herenda of CSN Bay Area
The Kings want to make a playoff run next season with DeMarcus Cousins as the centerpiece of the franchise
The Celtics make the most sense for a possible run at Cousins, but why would Sacramento bother trading the star center?
Cousins has improved each year and at times you see his character become an issue, but he comes to play every night. Lets be honest too The Kings haven’t necessarily provided him with much to work with besides Rudy Gay.
The Kings have finally started clearing cap space and got a legitimate Head Coach for the first time in years.
After drafting Tyreke Evans and then Cousins a year later things seemed to be on the rise for The Kings, but Evans regressed more and more as time went on in Sacramento.
The Kings have drafted Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore, and Nick Stauskas 1/3 had superstar potential the rest were head scratchers.
So can you really blame Cousins for wanting to leave if The Kings do miss the playoffs in a tough Western Conference?
That’s where teams like Boston do come in, but I think The Kings have turned things around slowly even if I do disagree with trading away Isaiah Thomas.
If The Kings want to turn things around and make that playoff push they need to get Cousins help before it’s too late.
