George Hill has been less than enthusiastic about his tenure with the Sacramento Kings. The point guard left the perennial playoff contending Utah Jazz to join a Kings team he was reportedly told would be a contender for the playoffs. Sacramento currently has the worst record in the NBA. So why not trade Hill to another rocky situation?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently battling some internal issues of their own and a roster upgrade could be exactly what the team needs.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN was on ‘The Jump’ and said the trade sending Hill to the Cavs was on the ‘one-yard line’.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Windhorst say the deal is currently being worked on.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are progressing in conversations on a deal to acquire Sacramento Kings guard George Hill, league sources told ESPN.
The Cavaliers and Kings are discussing a package centered on guard Iman Shumpert and forward Channing Frye, league sources said. The teams are discussing a second-round pick, too, sources said.
No trade is imminent, but the two teams have moved closer on terms and both are motivated to find a final pathway to a deal, league sources said.
Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports that the Kings are in the process of dumping some contracts to help facilitate this deal.
Kings looking to unload a couple players to make this happen, I’m told. Kings at 15 players on the roster https://t.co/oUA2o7Tfuv

Kings could find a taker for one or two of their young players or a team looking for veteran help as there is interest in the four other vets

If the Kings cannot find a trade partner to clear up a roster spot, do not rule out a player bought out or waived, as Matt Barnes was last year still with a year left on his deal.
