The Milwaukee Bucks recently re-signed a near-max contract for wingman Giannis Antetokounmpo. Last summer, they signed wingman Khris Middleton to a five year contract worth $70 million. Suddenly, the Bucks had the dynamic duo of the future, a shooter and superb defender in Middleton paired with a great ball-handler and paint scoring option in Giannis. After missing the playoffs last year, 2016-17 was poised to be a return to the postseason.
Just a few days away from training camp and everything was looking great for the Bucks, until today. It has been learned that Middleton has torn his hamstring and will undergo surgery.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton will undergo surgery to repair a torn hamstring and his status for this season is unclear, league sources told The Vertical.
Middleton, 25, suffered the injury in workouts Tuesday and subsequent testing revealed the tear, sources said.
He could miss a significant portion of the season and a final timetable will be set after surgery, sources said.
A report on the Bucks team website says Middleton will miss at least six months due to this injury. The team GM John Hammond also says the Middleton loss is big and they’ll look to improve from within the organization.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Khris Middleton suffered a left hamstring injury in preseason workouts that will require surgery, General Manager John Hammond announced today. Middleton is expected to be sidelined for approximately six months, with surgery planned in the next week.
“We’re obviously disappointed for Khris and our team, but injuries are an unfortunate part of the game,” said Hammond. “We’ll rely on our overall roster depth to help us while Khris is out for a significant period of the season.”
