The Golden State Warriors were an already historic NBA team when Kevin Durant was miraculously added to the roster. A rapidly rising salary cap, a perfectly timed free agency, and apparently months of recruiting led to it. The accumulation of that recruitment leading to a text following the 2016 NBA Finals.
The text came from a recently defeated Draymond Green according to Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustraded.
“See what we’re missing,”
“We need you. Make it happen.”
He then got the response he was hoping for when he had planted the seeds all those months ago.
I’m ready. Let’s do this
Since that text, the Warriors have been just as dominant but in an even more demoralizing way. Kevin Durant masking every mistake Golden State may have had as they lay waste to all opponents in the regular and postseason.
Going 67-15 in the regular season and a nearly perfect 16-1 in the post season. Very few games were close in the playoffs, the Warriors championship was seemingly inevitable with Durant. That text 51 weeks ago proving to spark an easy championship and possibly many more to come.
