Kevin Durant could, in fact, leave the Golden State Warriors this summer and go to a team of his choosing, potentially the third team of his career. The free agency of one of the NBA’s top players seems to be a consistent storyline almost every single offseason but as of late, Kevin Durant has been connected to rumors that already put him at the center of attention this Summer. He’s been connected to the Knicks before, why not one more time?
The New York Knicks have long been linked to the former NBA MVP but the rumblings grew louder over the past week as the Knicks traded Kristaps Porzginis, Tim Hardaway Jr and Courtney Lee to help create potentially over $70 million in cap space this upcoming summer. That’s two max slots for two stars. The obvious link is with Durant.
So when Ethan Sherwood Strauss, a writer for The Athletic, recently published a piece on the potential departure of Durant, it made sense. Nowhere in the piece did Strauss say KD would leave, he just laid out scenarios, situations and sentiments from the Warriors.
On top of all this, Durant also did not speak to the media for the last nine straight days. He has not been injured and the Warriors have played multiple games during that span. So when Durant finally took to the podium after the Warriors blowout win against the San Antonio Spurs, it was must-watch. Durant took it to another level.
