Spotify is continuing its push into the content creation world. Over the last year or so, the streaming company has pursued original podcast deals with some pretty big names. They picked up The Joe Budden Podcast last fall and inked deals with both the Clintons and Obamas earlier this year. Looks like they’re also planning to make comedy a big focus of their content creation era. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Bacon is set to star as himself in Spotify’s newest original podcast, I’m Gonna Be Kevin Bacon.
The 12 episode series will follow the fictional actor Randy Beslow. Beslow lost out on the role of a lifetime in Footloose and has spent the last 30 years blaming Bacon for all his troubles. One day, Randy hits rock bottom and decides to find Kevin Bacon so he can get vengeance. Bacon will star as a heightened version of himself, other actors are expected to appear in similar roles but nothing’s been announced yet.
I’m Gonna Be Kevin Bacon is being produced by Funny or Die. The series was created by Funny or Die vet Dan Abramson, who will executive produce alongside Bacon. Chris Henchy, Trevor Engelson, Steven Fisher, David Schiff, and Michael Diamond will also serve as executive producers on the series. Funny or Die‘s Joe Farrell, Jim Ziegler and Becca Kinskey will as well.
The series has yet to receive a premiere date.
