Kenya Barris ABC ‘Blackish’ Panel at the TCA Summer Press Tour, Day 8, Los Angeles, USA – 04 Aug 2016
Kenya Barris has been a very busy man lately. The Hollywood creative has been hard at work putting together new seasons of Black-ish and Grown-ish. In addition, Barris was just added to the team working on the Coming To America sequel. Above all else, he is believed to have signed a deal with Netflix worth over $100 million. With all of the good things going on in his life, Barris received a bit of bad news today.
ABC has announced that they will not being moving forward with their reboot of Bewitched this year. Barris had been working on a 2019 remake of the classic series, but it appears he has hit a roadblock with the network. The Hollywood Reporter tells us, “The project will now be rolled into ABC’s development for consideration for the 2020-21 broadcast season.” Despite the setback, “sources say the network is high on the project and wants to take its time and get the script right.”
This is the fourth time Sony has attempted to bring back the series. Hopefully, they’ll find success at ABC with Kenya Barris.
