It wasn’t long for the Cavs to recruit a center that has never averaged double digits in rebounding in the regular season. Just moments after reports that the Utah Jazz was going to buy out Kendrick Perkins (because they’re smart). The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to sign Kendrick Perkins as soon as the buyout is done.
Center Kendrick Perkins has committed to signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers once he finalizes a buyout with the Utah Jazz, a source told ESPN.com on Saturday.
Perkins was recruited directly by LeBron James to pick the Cavs, according to a source. He also drew heavy interest from the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. The combination of a chance to win a championship along with an opportunity for playing time pushed Perkins to choose Cleveland.
After making up his mind, Perkins called Clippers coach Doc Rivers, whom Perkins played for in Boston, to inform his old coach of the decision.
Perkins will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
I’m done even talking about Kendrick Perkins. I mean if LeBron James, the best player in the game, personally went out of his way to recruit Kendrick Perkins. Then I must be in the minority.
It's a Blessing for me to have another opportunity to join a Great Organization @cavs! Can't wait to play with Greatness @KingJames!#TheLand
