
Miami Heat rookie Kendrick Nunn has proved a lot of doubters wrong with his high-level of play this season and has now exhibited his confidence in his game. In an interview with the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman, Nunn gave the following statement:
“I’m Rookie of the Year. “I think people will say that [Ja Morant] is Rookie of the Year, but I don’t believe it. The most value should be in the wins. And we’re both starting guards on teams, and our team has been holding it down. We’re a playoff team, so go ahead and give that Rookie of the Year to Kendrick Nunn.”

Nunn was undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, with Ja Morant going second-overall as the new foundational point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Since the beginning of the season, now stalled by the COVID-19 outbreak, Nunn has averaged 18.9 points and 4.1 assists per game in his 62 appearances for the Heat this season, with Miami sitting fourth in the East with a record of 41-24. Ja Morant has averaged 17.6 points and 6.9 assists per game in 59 appearances for the Memphis Grizzlies, sitting eighth in the Western Conference with a record of 32-33.
