Is it possible for Kendrick Lamar to take any L’s? I think not. From his start, it appears that the rapper has manifested into a whole new being in the world and spectrum of the Hip-Hop community. Just in the past year alone, Kendrick has found himself being the topic of discussion due to the release of To Pimp A Butterfly and has went on to be celebrated and critiqued heavily for the body of work that was delivered. Fast-forward to present-day and Kendrick has racked up Grammy wins for the LP, but hasn’t found himself completely finished with it yet.
Releasing Untitled Unmastered to the surprise of many, the “throwaway” tracks were the focus of many conversations this weekend and it appears that word-of-mouth has proved to be beneficial as Kendrick is headed straight to the top of Billboard’s Top 200 chart. From early projections based on digital sales and streaming, Untitled Unmastered is looking at a No. 1 debut that has the album selling between 140K – 150K of pure sales & 175K – 185K of sales plus streaming in its first week. Due to no promotion of the project outside of social media posts. this is certainly a great look for the rapper. Simply put, there’s no stopping Mr. Lamar at this point. It’s much easier to get with the program.
