B*tch, be humble!
That’s the level and exact words of assertion that Kendrick Lamar fired off with when he released his new single just last week. Sharing the record itself and the new music video at the same time, “Humble” went on to become the focus of plenty of conversations that focused on everything from some of the song’s “controversial” messages, to just how Kendrick delivered from a lyrical standpoint.
Because of that and due to the thirst for new music from the California record, Kendrick Lamar earns a new career accomplishment as “Humble” not only lands at no. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but also becomes Kendrick’s highest charting single as a lead artist. Even better, “Humble” becomes the highest debut for a Hip Hop record since Eminem’s “Not Afraid” in 2010.
Coming at the perfect time, this is just the first of many wins that will follow when he releases his new studio album this Friday. Giving the other guys their time to shine, it’s time to refocus the spotlight on King Kendrick!
