Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard something pertaining to Kendrick Lamar’s latest studio album, To Pimp A Butterfly. Whether your reaction to the record was positive or negative, Kendrick Lamar set out to make a loud and clear message and appears he’s reaping the benefits of that statement as he soared to the top of this week’s Billboard 200 chart. Marking Kendrick’s first number 1 album, he even broke an own personal as To Pimp A Butterfly closed the week out with 360,000 SPS. Based off of pure sales that did not including album streams, Kendrick still sold a commendable 323,000 copies across the United States. This topples the likes of his previous album good kid, m.A.A.d city which debuted at #2 with 241,000 albums sold. Kendrick Lamar shows no signs of slowing down as he took to the streets of L.A. last night to, aboard moving trucks, to perform tracks for his new album. Surely, this is just the first of plenty great news and surprises to come along during the campaign for To Pimp A Butterfly. Congratulations are definitely in order for the Compton rapper.
