It’s that time of the year again when some of the music industry’s who’s who, along with fans from all over, come together with MTV in celebration of the past year of music. As with recent years, this August will bring about the 2017 VMAs! Anticipated each year, today the nominations for this year’s award show has officially been unveiled.
In normal Kendrick Lamar fashion, the California rapper leads the way with 8 nominations, which were earned due to the wide success of his multi-platinum DAMN. album. Up next and not falling short, Pop’s own Katy Perry and the ever elusive The Weekend rake in 5 nominations each. Other notable highlights include DJ Khaled’s Video of the Year nomination for “Wild Thoughts,” SZA’s Best New Artist nomination, and Bruno Mars’s nomination for Artist Of The Year.
