Kehlani scores No 1 with latest project While We Wait. Standing at nine tracks, the R&B mixtape gifted fans with Kehlani’s unique, soulful sound.
Billboard reports While We Wait earns Kehlani her second No 1. on the Top R&B Albums Chart. In 2017, Sweet Sexy Savage rose to the top, gaining the No 1 position.
Music streaming definitely creates a digital competition on much higher stakes. With streams counting towards album sales, typically the longer the album, the more likely to hit the top of the charts. Kehlani’s short mixtape however got the job done.
According to Billboard, Nielsen Music reports, Kehlani’s While We Wait earned 34,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 28.
The Top R&B Album Chart is not the only home for Kehlani. While We Wait also debuts at No. 5 on Billboards Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as well as No. 9 on the all inclusive Billboard 200.
While We Wait features Musiq Soulchild, Dom Kennedy, Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack. Kehlani’s visual for the track Butterfly shows her emerging from a cocoon as a butterfly with ornate wings and a pregnant belly.
