The Dallas Cowboys have signed New Jersey Generals wide receiver and USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin after his breakout performance in the new football league. He was the star wide receiver for the team and also played kick returner with the Generals. This is a return to the state of Texas for Turpin who played college football with the TCU Horned Frogs. Dallas lacks depth at the wide receiver position this year and is taking a chance on the USFL standout. There are several other USFL players that signed NFL contracts this offseason.

In ten games with the New Jersey Generals, KaVontae Turpin was targeted 53 times and recorded 44 catches for 540 yards and four touchdowns. As a kick returner, he had three returns for 68 yards and 12 punt returns for 184 yards and one touchdown. Dallas could use the depth at wide receiver and if he develops the right chemistry with quarterback Dak Prescott, he could see solid action this year on the field. Turpin is just 26 years old and still has plenty of potential left in him. The USFL has provided some talented potential to the NFL this offseason.

The Dallas Cowboys plan to win the NFC East and be a serious contender for the Super Bowl this season. CeeDee Lamb is set to replace Amari Cooper as the number one wide receiver on the team. Michael Gallup and the rest of the wide receiver core will be tasked with making up the rest of the production. Perhaps KaVontae Turpin can help fill in some of that production this year.
