The last eighteen months have been a rollercoaster ride for many of us, but few have had a wilder ride than Kanye West. The Chicago native has gone through the ups and downs of marriage while also embarking on a polarizing presidential campaign. Not to mention, he moved along in his journey with Adidas and face legal issues involving the Sunday Service series. This Sunday, his journey took a brighter turn at the 70th Annual Grammy Awards.
West brought home his first Grammy Award of the night with Jesus Is King. His first Gospel album won the “Best Contemporary Christian Music Album” category. For West, this marks yet another milestone on his gospel music path.
“Creatively it’s what I’m interested in expressing, but it’ll only be expressed if it’s in God’s will,” he said about venturing into Gospel music with Jesus Is King.
“If God says he wants me to build these factories, it will be built. If God says he wants me to sit in jail, or he wants me to go sit in Africa for a few years… I don’t know what God has planned for me!”
Stay tuned for more Grammy award winners as the night unfolds.
