The Chicago native never appeared to be a major player in the presidential race, but he did mount a campaign in the summer and fall of 2020. While running for office, he advocated for a strong national defense system, support for the arts, infusing religion into schools and much more. He also picked Michelle Tidball, a preacher from Wyoming, to be his running mate. Despite developing a platform and choosing a running mate, the award-winning producer failed to file the necessary paperwork to appear on the ballot in more than half of U.S. states. As a result, the campaign was suspended on November 4, 2020.
Since then, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has shifted his attention back toward music. He released multiple albums, featured in a Netflix documentary about his life and produced half of Pusha T’s most recent LP, It’s Almost Dry.
