Coming fresh off the release of his seventh album, The Life of Pablo, Kanye West is ready to start talking about what’s next. Last week he tweeted that a new album is coming this summer, and “as of now”, he’s apparently decided on the first operative title for his next project.
My next album is titled “Turbo Grafx 16” as of now…

The title is named after a Japanese-manufactured video game console that launched in Japan in 1987 and hit the US two years later. West was apparently a huge fan.
just on some super nerd vibes… one of my favorite gaming systems when I was a kid…

Blazing Lazers was probably my favorite game on that console …

As we know, and given the “as of now” insurance from Kanye, he also knows that the title can still change. After all, The Life of Pablo started out as So Help Me God, which then became Swish, and then Waves before settling on TLOP. Maybe the personal connection to this title will help the first idea stick. Kanye went on to talk about playing a Neo Geo game called Spy Hunter with his friend at his mom’s house. The sentimental value might help Turbo Grafx 16 last, but that same nature of Kanye’s sentiment could also lead to a title change in the future.
