Kansas senior guard LaGerald Vick will be taking a leave of absence from the team, effective immediately. The announcement came via Bill Self Thursday evening.
In a statement, Self said “LaGerald has some personal matters that require his immediate attention and he will be taking a leave of absence from our team. During this time we will respect LaGerald’s privacy. There is no timetable for his return.”

Vick’s mom, La La Vick, said Thursday night that Vick will be going home to Memphis, Tennessee to tend to family issues. “We need him here for a couple weeks,” La La Vick told The Kansas City Star.
Vick hasn’t been at his best lately, and it appeared that something off the court could have been bothering him. The senior leader has scored over 10 points just once in his last four games. Kansas is currently tied for 4th in the Big 12 as they look to defend their conference championship and 14-year title streak.
Kansas’ senior guard has been averaging 14 PPG and 4 RPG while shooting over 45 percent from deep. Without a timetable for Vick, college basketball fans will wait patiently for one of the nation’s best seniors to return.
