
New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday has played his last game of the season. As confirmed in a press release, the Pelicans stated the timetable for Holiday’s injury is six weeks, in which time the twelfth place Pelicans, long considered out of playoff contention, will have entered the offseason.

Holiday underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a core muscle injury.
Dr. William Meyers performed the surgery in Philadelphia.

Jrue Holiday was in the form of his career this season, averaging career-high totals in scoring with 21.2 points per game, and rebounding with 5.0 boards per contest, one of the bright spots in an otherwise bleak Pelicans season. New Orleans has a less than awe-inspiring record of 31-44 this season, and any success the team has attained has been largely overshadowed by the trade speculation regarding star big man Anthony Davis.
Despite his season being cut short, Jrue Holiday’s average of 7.7 assists per game is enough to activate an incentive bonus in his contract.
