Josh Whitehouse has been cast as the lead role in the pilot for HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, The Long Night. The series will be helmed by writer Jane Goldman and author/co-executive producer George R.R. Martin.
The British actor Josh Whitehouse is best known for the BBC series Poldark and will join Naomi Watts in the pilot episode. Watts adds star power to the ensemble, known for starring in movies such as The Ring and King Kong the actress is a great lead actress.
The story is said to “chronicle the worlds descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” Covered in a veil of secrecy, both actors roles and general story are being kept in the dark. With no visuals, nor names for the characters, all we know is Watts will play a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.
Theories have been passed around that Watts may be playing the first Lannister, which could be true given the fact she is blonde and will be leading. Josh Whitehouse however from the looks of it could be playing the lead Stark. As the story is set to be the origins of these families it would not be surprising to see the series leads eventually turn out to be either of the two.
The GOT prequel is one of several spin-off series that are currently under works at HBO, and will be used to fill our GOT desires as the series airs its final season next year.
