It was announced before the season began that Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook would be getting inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame this year. The man selected to induct Russ into the OK HOF was none other than the legendary Michael Jordan.
Jordan was asked by Thunder owner Clay Bennett to induct Russ, a Jordan Brand athlete with his own shoe line in MJ’s company. MJ shouted out Russ for his passion and dedication to the Thunder and Oklahoma City throughout the years and also noted that he wasn’t there to take shots at anyone who might not be in attendance. By saying that, the shots are already sent towards Kevin Durant, another member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Check out MJ introducing Russ below.
Russell Westbrook used his time at the podium to ask the community to come together. The All-Star guard also spoke about children of color and how important it is to make these kids feel like they can be whatever they set out to be.
Here’s Russ taking the stage and giving a speech.
