Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has already created a great legacy for himself. No, it is not as a great basketball player, though he certainly is one. Instead, he has created a legacy of being one of the most giving and charitable athletes, always willing to help the less fortunate.
Wall recently won the NBA Cares Community Assist Award for that reason and his charitable acts, most notably his friendship with a young girl with cancer, are well documented. There is no doubt that Wall has used his fame and fortune for good.
The Wizards point guard is back at it again, it seems. This time, Wall is selling his high-end wardrobe in order to raise money and awareness for charity. He is partnering with online store “The RealReal” and the money will go towards the John Wall Family Foundation.
Wall had the following to say to Esquire:
I believe in giving back, and my foundation allows me to do that. It’s important for me to support the communities that have supported me both in D.C. and Raleigh. And being able to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged families and impact the lives of at-risk youth through mentorship, education, and physical activity is what the John Wall Family Foundation is all about. I’ve said it before: I’m more than just a basketball player. I’ve been blessed to play the game I love on the highest professional level, and I will use this blessing to help others.
Great stuff from John Wall who has been doing this for years, using his platform to help the less fortunate. Too bad he did the Dougie that one time, though, am I right?
