It is no secret that the use of artificial intelligence will continue to increase as time goes on. As it does, expect conversations about the use of AI and what it means for human life to expand and grow over time. This fall, Rogue One Director Gareth Edwards will take a closer look at the worst possible scenario for the use of AI — a war. Edwards’ latest project, The Creator, centers around a war between AI and human life and the lengths taken to end the war. Along the way, morality, compassion and violence are put on trial.
“Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill ‘the Creator,’ the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war and mankind itself. Joshua and his team journey across enemy lines into AI-occupied territory only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child,” the film’s description reads.
The role of Joshua will be played by John David Washington. Also, the film will feature Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Madeleine Yuna Voyles and Allison Janney. On September 29, Washington and Edwards will deliver the finished project to theaters around the world. Until then, check out the teaser trailer below.
