‘Daddy’s Home’ was one of the more surprising releases of 2015. The film managed to rekindle some of the amazing chemistry between Ferrell and Wahlberg that had previously been seen in ‘The Other Guys’. Besides rekindling the chemistry of the two leads, the film also succeeded on several different levels and managed to make what seemed to be a run of the mill cash grab Christmas film into something a little more than that. The film is far from a classic but it’s also totally worthy of a sequel. One of the better moments of the first film happened right before the credits rolled. When Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) finally settled their issues and were looking to move forward as co-dads, the one the only John Cena rolls up behind them only to announce that he’s the actual father of Dusty’s new stepdaughter. Cena’s character had been largely absent from the promotional material so far for ‘Daddy’s Home 2’ which had me slightly concerned about his role moving forward. Thankfully, the new trailer for ‘Daddy’s Home 2’ is very Cena heavy. The film also brings in the John Lithgow and Mel Gibson as the parents of Brad and Dusty respectively.
‘Daddy’s Home 2’ is set to debut in theatres on November 10th, 2017.
