Joey Bada$$ is only a few weeks away from making his long awaited return. Preparing fans for his upcoming release, the Brooklyn native hopped on Twitter to offer a brief preview of 2000.
“I got a really good feeling about this one,” he tweeted on Thursday.
“If 1999 was about a kid from Brooklyn, New York trynna make it big and put his friends on, 2000 is about that same kid who’s now a man and on the other side of the fence. Similar vibe, different perspectives.”
Joey Bada$$ has developed a strong resumé in Hollywood within the last few years. He’s appeared in Power Book III: Raising Kanan and starred in the award-winning film, Two Distant Strangers. Unfortunately, his acting exploits have taken him away from the studio. His last album, All Amerikkkan Bada$$, was released in 2017 with contributions from J. Cole, Schoolboy Q and Styles P. It was identified one of the best Rap albums of the year by numerous publications and it debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart.
A five-year layoff is tough to overcome in the rapidly changing landscape, but Kendrick Lamar has proven that it can be done. 2000 is set to drop next month. Check out the album’s trailer below.
