Suddenly the Philadelphia 76ers have become the New England Patriots of basketball on keeping things in house which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
When it comes to Joel Embiid though it’s surprising since it’s silence about an injury.
The former number 3 overall pick has not played in an NBA game yet, and will not do so in the 2015-2016 season as well.
Embiid re-broke a bone in his foot which will require surgery, but when?
General Manager Sam Hinkie has been tight-lipped about the seven footers health, and the surgery obviously has not been performed CSNPhilly.com reports.
“Embiid has been pain-free — was coming to terms with the decision. The source indicated that Embiid and his confidants wanted more time to review the matter and select a doctor. A doctor has been chosen, though the source declined to provide that information.”

The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the youngest teams in the NBA, but among the worst teams in the league as well.
After drafting Jahlil Okafor the direction of the team was questionable, but they’ve stuck to their guns by selecting the highest potential player possible even if the Embiid selection has back fired to this point in time.
There’s still hope for Embiid however as players have dealt with the same foot issues that players like Zydrunas Ilgauskas who went on to have a pretty successful 13 year career in Cleveland, but you cannot help to think about former Houston Rocket Yao Ming who often suffered from the injury.
Joel Embiid might be a different story though as his athleticism seems far more advanced than those two players not to knock on either player.
For Joel Embiid’s sake I hope he can bounce back and get healthy which he’s reached out to Kevin Durant on how to rehab from the injury or any advice he did have.
It will be a tough road for him and 76ers fans will anxiously wait to see him perform.
