Former Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is expected to formally introduce his running mate for the 2020 Presidential Election within the next two weeks. Reports indicate that the decision will be made this week and announced during the week of August 10, 2020 before the Democratic National Convention.
Thus far, the leading nominees to become Biden’s running mate are Sen. Kamala Harris, Rep. Karen Bass and former Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice. Following behind the three leading candidates, Stacey Abrams, Rep. Val Demings and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are still legitimate choices. On the outside looking in, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Sen. Amy Klobuchar may still land on the ticket this fall.
The only thing that is certain is that Biden’s running mate will be a woman. The presumptive nominee pledged to pick a woman as his running mate at the top of the year after earning a commanding lead in the primaries. Moreover, it appears that Biden’s running mate will more than likely be a Black woman. Either way, history will be made if Biden emerges victorious on November 3, 2020.
