President Joe Biden will spend the weekend under the bright lights of Los Angeles, California. During the weekend, his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will visit research laboratories at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Biden and the President will attend their first fundraising events since the end of historic actors and writers’ strikes that lasted throughout the summer and fall. Several stars, including Barbara Streisand, Steven Spielberg and Shonda Rhimes, are reportedly expected to participate in these fundraising efforts.
“Greater Los Angeles is the number one fundraising base for the Democratic Party. So, that makes perfect sense,” John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation Executive Director Raphael Sonenshein told the Los Angeles Daily News.
“You are 11 months out from Election Day. You are touching base with a critical base of your campaign. L.A. is also one of the prime centers of organized labor in the country, along with the Midwest. One of his most important political messages is pro-union.”
After leaving Los Angeles, the President will attend a fundraiser in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later in the month, the Biden campaign is also expected to host fundraisers in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
