As the February 8 trade deadline continues to near, the Washington Wizards, at 29-22, remain largely a question mark in terms of their gameplan entering the date. It’s known the team has interest in upgrading its roster, a roster with some players who have one foot out the door already, but which players they’ll pursue is not yet known.
Veteran shooter Jodie Meeks signed a deal to join the team last summer and play back-up to All-Star Bradley Beal. However, Meeks’ camp would gladly welcome a trade from the team before Thursday’s deadline, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.
Five days until the deadline & I’m hearing that Jodie Meeks’ camp would welcome a trade in search of a more prominent role on another team.
Meeks came to the #Wizards to be Bradley Beal’s backup but recently has collected DNPs.

Meeks’ playing time has declined in recent weeks, with the guard seeing under 10 minutes of action in each of his last 10 games. He’s even seen games where he hasn’t played at all.
Meeks, according to Buckner, would prefer to be traded to a team where he’s given more of a prominent role.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder have been two aggressive teams in the trade market this week, searching for a veteran guard who can light it up from 3-point range. Meeks, who’s shot over 40 percent in three of his past four seasons, is shooting just 32 percent from downtown this season with Washington.
The Wizards have also explored offers for veteran center Marcin Gortat.
