JJ Redick signed a huge one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, leaving the Clippers after years of being their most valuable role player.
While Redick’s contract is only for one year, the sharp shooter is hoping to be in Philadelphia for a long time – the rest of his career, in fact.
Following via Jessica Camerato of CSN Philly:
“My hope is that this is a long-term thing and that I’m here three or four years and can finish my career as a Sixer,” Redick said Saturday.
Redick’s timeline does not exactly fit that of the young, rebuilding Sixers team. But they need shooting and they need veteran experience; Redick brings both of those things.
Clearly, Redick is content in helping the Sixers get over the hump and become a playoff contender again. The 76ers should be happy to have him as he can be a big help.
Philly has a shot at the playoffs this year if their young players come out of the gate on fire and develop well. Redick will have a big impact on Philly’s chances.
